We run a series of courses from the workshop in the grounds of the exquisite Dartington Estate, near Totnes  Devon. The Leather Making course is on site at the Deer Park near Scorriton on Dartmoor. We also tailor make courses to suit our clients needs. We can run courses or individual lessons at schools, colleges universities, festivals, weddings, parties - you name it …..

Basic Skills

Introduction to Leathercraft using traditional hand tools and naturally tanned leather. You will learn traditional skills used in saddlery and bridle-making and make a selection of your own pieces to take  home and treasure

Leather Making 

by traditional methods

A unique course. Learn how to skilfully skin a deer and transform its skin using organic tannins into the most beautiful leather.

You can engage in each stage of this remarkable process.

You will then use the leather and traditional leatherwork hand tools to create something to take away with you.

Intermediate

Skills 1 and 2

More advanced leatherwork techniques for those with previous experience. You will learn pattern-making and techniques for more complex projects. Leather decoration and embellishing.

Bridle-making

After completing Basic Skills you may want to specialise in equestrian leatherwork. You will learn skills to enable you to make your own bridle with the finest quality Bakers oak bark tanned bridle leather.
