There is a certain kind of Devon venue that just makes sense. Plenty of space, proper countryside views, and buildings with character that still feel clean and considered.
Bow Grange is exactly that.
Set just outside Littlehempston near Totnes, Bow Grange is a private farm surrounded by rolling hills, woodland and open pasture, now being thoughtfully transformed from a working farm into a wedding and events venue.
Bow Grange sits across 30 acres of South Devon farmland. It is tucked away enough to feel private, but accessible for guests travelling in from Totnes or Newton Abbot.

It is designed for those weddings that feel more like a weekend gathering than a one-day performance: arrive, settle in, catch up with people properly, and let the day unfold without feeling rushed. Bow Grange offers both midweek and weekend hire options, including a three-day weekend package.
The centrepiece is the Main Barn, restored from its original use (it once housed 10 horses) into a bright, warm space that can seat 100-150 guests. It is intentionally flexible, a blank canvas with the sort of simple backdrop that works for rustic styling or something more modern.
Alongside the barn is a courtyard space with open-air and covered areas, plus a fire pit for later in the evening. The lawns, pond and wide-open views give you plenty of options for ceremonies, drinks receptions, games and golden-hour photos.
Bow Grange has two bar areas: a Courtyard Bar for outdoor mingling and cocktails, and a Main Barn bar designed to keep things moving once the dancing starts.
One of the best things about Bow Grange is that it is built around personalisation. You can decorate the spaces yourself, bring in your preferred caterers and entertainment, and shape the day around what you actually want, rather than what a package dictates.
There are also practical touches that matter when you are hosting real people: ample parking, accessible facilities, a catering preparation room, and even a camping field for guests who want to stay on site.
At Tanner Bates, we are always drawn to places that share the same values we build into our leatherwork: care, craft, and a sense of calm confidence. Bow Grange has that feel. It is unmistakably Devon, but it does not lean on “rustic” as a gimmick. It just is what it is: open skies, honest buildings, and space for people to celebrate properly.
If you are planning a wedding at Bow Grange, make room for the tangible bits.
Digital albums are brilliant, but it is often the physical things that become the heirlooms. The notebook you wrote your vows in. The journal you used to plan the day. The guest book that ends up on a shelf for years.
A few ideas that pair beautifully with a venue like Bow Grange:
A refillable leather journal for vows and speeches
Something you can use in the build-up, on the day, and then keep afterwards. Our Leather Bound Journal is designed to be part of the story rather than something tucked away.
A leather-bound notebook for planning
Useful, portable, and easy to personalise. Our Classic Leather Bound Moleskine Journal works well for lists, notes, and all the small decisions that shape the day.
A groom’s belt that will outlast the suit
A quiet upgrade you’ll wear long after the wedding day has passed. Our Oak Bark Devon Leather Belt is made to age well, and works just as nicely as a matching set for ushers or groomsmen.
Passport Wallets and Luggage Tags
For jetting off on the honeymoon after an incredible wedding day at Bow Grange. Our Passport Wallets and Luggage Tags are designed to travel well and age beautifully.

In recent years, the phrase “Make It British” has grown from a nostalgic nod to our manufacturing heritage into a powerful movement. It celebrates the makers, workshops, tanneries and small businesses keeping British craftsmanship alive. And in the world of leatherwork, a discipline defined by feel, skill, patience and tradition, the importance of making in Britain has never been clearer.
A handmade belt should be synonymous with durability. This comes from superior materials like full-grain, vegetable tanned leather and solid brass or stainless steel hardware, combined with robust construction. The leather's thickness, quality stitching, and secure buckle attachment all contribute to a product that can withstand decades of daily wear.
